Move storage from Friendica server to local NAS?
I have come up with an issue of filling up my server. I have no more space.
How can I move my storage form my VM to a local NAS?
Can some one guide me along this path?
Thanks for any help!
Joseph
We were able to clear the cache, and things started working again.
I turned off the avatar caching.
The other thing that you mention: optimize the DB. Can you give more details onhow it is done, or is there a tutorial on this somewhere?
Thanks
Joseph

You need to execute the command mysqlcheck

Groups - how to make - how to promote - how do they work
I was looking over the list of available groups in Friendica.
I'd be interested in creating 1 or 2 myself.
I found a doc page showing how t make one:
https://wiki.friendi.ca/docs/groups-and-privacy
But, in my current friendica account, the create button is not there. Why?
I will have my own friendica node installed soon. Will this allow me to do other things?
Can I just create one in my friendica account, or is this an admin only ability?
Once created, how are the promoted/distributed through out the fediverse? There seems to be a listing of groups on the friendica directory list:
https://dir.friendica.social/group?page=2
Thanks

@Joseph Hogan the Wiki entry is for Circles, but what you mean is a Froum and the entry for that is this one https://wiki.friendi.ca/docs/forums.
There are two ways to create a forum.
you click on the plus sign as in the picture (but this only works if the admin of the instance allows multiple registrations.
or
you register a second account and user account - advanced account/page type you select community group
@Friendica Support
HI there.
Thanks for you ideas.
I read recently that forums were changed to groups, so I am not sure which is old vs bew.
I will have my own node up and runnning in the coming days, so I will look into the creating forums/groups.
Thanks

tagging of flagging a thread for future reading?
I was wondering if there is a way to tag/flag/mark a conversation so that we can keep it for later use, or archive it for "permanent" reading?
The flow of messages can be high, so t avoid losing a conversation, how can we "save" them?
Thanks for ideas

Friendica install/configuration question
@Friendica Admins
Hello,
A couple years ago, I had a running friendica node. After an upgrade, it stopped working.
I am back to try again:)
I have 2 questions for the moment to get things going:
1 - Can I use the same domain and user name as my old friendica server as I did back then? I recall someone saying that their might be issues because the new server would not have the same "signature" or some identifying thing(a node number maybe). Is this true?
2 - I also recall that by default, that some kind of data is stored by a publicly visible location, and you need to point the data storage location to a folder outside the visible folder. I did that before. Is if still this way by default?
3 - Because the data was regularly changing(because it was inflowing message form the social media feeds), it tended to take up a lot of space. My old back ups of my system were 15GBs. I wan to move the data off my friendica server, and put it on my NAS. The idea was to redirect the folder location to a folder on my NAS. It is just a cable/switch/cable away, so it is a local server being used for it) Will this cause any issues for friendica? Will the delay between the friendica server and the NAS cause issues of their own?
Thanks for any and all assistance. I want to do this a better than last time:)

I pinned this conversation and when I look on my profile page, I only found in under my conversation tab. But, this seems to list my conversations, not any ones I have saved pinned.
Thanks for your help.
