The only tip in here is to enjoy the transition.

#introductions: I'm an American who has been living in northern #Vietnam for the last two decades. It's an intensely photogenic place, but I'm most drawn to its alleyways in the middle of long night walks. I also have a Firefish account for more text based parts of the Fediverse (https://firefish.social/@HonDuMuc).

Simple solutions to increase productivity of small scale farmers in Africa!

small scale farmers around the world have to struggle with so many issues including lack of space, pest control, lack of access to healthy and organic fertilizer not to mention water that is becoming an even bigger problem in so many parts of the world.

There are many solutions that can help increase the yield of each plant by using solutions such as trellies.

During our visits in different parts of Ghana, we never saw any farmer using trellis for their tomatoes, cucumbers or eggplants.

With bamboo being widely available in many parts of ghana at very low cost, it is possible to create efficient and low cost trellis like the ones in this image to increase the efficiency of many crops and at the same time make it easier to fight the weeds and pests.

It also creates a natural shield against heavy rain and strong sunshine while making it easier for farmers to take care of their plants and harvest their produce.

Reminder that if you're feeling lonely today, see this hashtag:

➡️ #JoinIn

There are lots of people (myself included) keeping each other company on there, with all kinds of posts from hot chocolate recipes to historical photos to horses covered in tinsel to just general thoughts and chatter.

You can use the hashtag however you want, serious or fun, and anyone using the tag is welcoming of replies and discussion so it's a great way of striking up a conversation.

See you there! ☃️

Also on Diaspora as; michaelwillsey@podling.oksocial.net, A young married man of 68 years of age, like simple casual conversations about anything. I'm most associated with reasonable liberalism in that I accept everyone as they are except mean people. I feel we need mutual cooperation and not mutual destruction. The world is grossly overpopulated, and we need to end the Industrial Revolution as it has failed and end capitalism, as it too has failed. Currently, I'm supporting the Forward political party. Although I agree that George Washington was correct in saying all political party are wrong-headed. Earth Homes are nice. A new society with a blend of agriculture and science for the greater good is needed. Thorium LFTR will give us safe and unlimited energy so that fossil fuel can be eliminated except in absolutely needed situations. I'm especially against racism and for mixed marriages. My late wife was an amazing African-American, my current with has family roots in Puerto Rico. I'm a Scotch, English and west coast of Europe blend. We love all positive people who want everyone to be safe and loved.

Takeaways from my first week on Mastodon...

1. I am still very new here and have much to learn.

2. Hashtags are your friend. Follow them. Use them. Capitalize each word in them.

3. You will miss things, and that is the point.

4. For people you don't want to miss, make lists for them.

5. Boost. Boost. Boost.

6. It is nice to make connections and not chase an algorithm.

7. People seem to be happier here.

8. Always add descriptions to your images.

Hey everyone, I’m #newhere. I’m interested in #books, #cooking, #fermentingfoods, #food, #go, #movies, #nordic-walking, #tempeh, #vegan-food, and #wfpb. Thanks for the invite, @Welcome Diasporg!

I have no idea where this will take me, but I like the disorientation that comes with a new venture. Today I roasted a few purple potatoes in my compact convection oven (aka "air fryer"). I roast them whole, just rubbing a little olive oil on the skin. What's available here are Stokes Purple® potatoes, though there are several varieties. The Stokes potatoes tend to be long and skinny, so once they're done (25 min at 350ºF), I refrigerate them to make the starch resistant, and then eat them cold from the fridge, where they occupy the same sort of food niche as, say, a chilled banana: sweet, no seeds or bones, and filling. Also very healthful: https://youtu.be/FzZ3DaqpYCw

I just made a new batch of tempeh, this time using Du Puy lentils and Kamut® khorasan wheat, a 50-50 mix (1.5 cups of each, measured before cooking and cooked separately). I like to a do a mix of an intact whole grain and beans/lentils. This batch is described here: https://leisureguy.wordpress.com/2022/11/24/lentils-kamut/
