Passing Berlin Young Far Heath.

Going to Fohrde via Rathenow, and back via Brandenburg an der Havel.

in reply to Jon Worth

Make it Maidens’ Heath and it could actually be a British village.

Eisenbahnromantik at Berlin Stakes (yes I know it it’s Staaken not Staken but it’s close enough)
in reply to Jon Worth

More Eisenbahnromantik, this time Dallgow-Döberitz

Germany builds such grim sound protection walls that then get covered in graffiti. The old rail building behind is actually ok.

Elstal. Fractionally less desolate, and with a Ludmilla in the distance
in reply to Jon Worth

And I’ve taken this line probably more than 100x in ICEs en route to Hannover, but I’ve never gone beyond Elstal on the RE4 stopping train. Hence the spontaneous thread 😄

Nice thread, lovely sightseeing trip.
I used to commute by train more than a decade ago, sometimes I still miss it.

Nennhausen

I’m not on the platform side. IC and ICE trains pass here at speed

Rathenow

Leaving the RE4, and the RB51 is waiting the other side of a patch of grass

At Belgrade station (the old “in town” one) in 2009, all the platform indicators were non-working. Asked where the train for Budapest was, our informant pointed to a train in the distance, not actually at a platform.
Which wasn’t very helpful.
As it turned out, there seemed to be only that train in the foreseeable future, and it eventually appeared at the only platform where passengers were waiting.

if they would at least comission some *good* sprayers... I heard the scene is quite respectful and the best way to prevent random graffiti is to already have graffiti on a surface
in reply to Jon Worth

“Staken” is the Dutch verb for “to strike” or “to abort”, it being the last stop before the great Brandenburger plains it seems fitting 😅

My dear Mr. singing club! Your station translation is under everybodies pig. 😁
