That thing about American talk show hosts insisting on sitting in a high chair, while their guests sit lower, is that to make the host look powerful?

I am just asking, because it really looks weird, when the guest is The President of the United States.

Well, yes, it is - but also, it's an artifact of putting them at a desk like a news host; to be equal height the guest then has to sit on a regular chair, not in a couch or armchair, which tends to make them look even more "inferior", sort-of like an employee called to the boss' office (and also less comfortable)...

- or the desk has to be lowered so the host's height matches armchair height, which looks super-weird.

biden is a puppet for corporations anyway. they always are.

and opportunities to sit like this only humanise him. he should be riding on top of a giant glowing mecha covered in missiles and the blood of children, instead heres joe public, a real human being just like you and me. what a load of crap.

fuck seth myers for doing this.

I think it's about the host sitting in an office chair (because she/he is at work), whereas his/her guest is sitting in a comfortable armchair, because the guest is not at work.

It's Hollywood inspired! A psychological strategy as outlined in this classic film here.
