Terms of Service
1. Introduction
Friendica is a decentralised communications platform that connects with other social networking services in the wider Fediverse. The Service at friendica.hubup.pro and go.hubup.pro (referred to here as our Node), is an independent not-for-profit service that uses Friendica's open source code.
We, the service operators, offer this Service to you under the terms outlined here.
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service, applicable laws and regulations, and accept responsibility for complying with any relevant local laws. If you do not agree with these terms, you must not use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years of age to use this Service.
2. Username, Password, and Security
If you create an account our Node, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential. You're also responsible for all activity that occurs under your account credentials.
If you become aware of any unauthorised access or security breach, please inform the node admin at info@hubup.pro immediately.
We are not liable for any loss you incur from someone else using your credentials, whether or not you were aware of it.
3. Content
All content posted via our Node is the responsibility of the individual who created it. We don't routinely monitor the content posted via this Service, and we cannot take responsibility for such content.
If you come across spam, harassment, illegal content, or anything grossly offensive, you can contact the node admin.
Your content
You're responsible for any content you provide, including making sure it complies with applicable laws and regulations.
We may remove content if it appears to breach those laws or regulations.
Content from others
You use and rely on other people’s posts at your own risk. We don’t endorse, support, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content posted via this Service or on any linked site.
By using the Service, you understand that you might encounter content that’s misleading, inappropriate, offensive, or simply wrong. Some posts may also be mislabelled or deceptive.
4. Provision of Service
We provide this Service in good faith and to the best of our ability. We've kept the Service running consistently (as shown in our uptime and speed stats), but we can't promise uninterrupted access or protection from data loss.
If there’s ever a disruption, the node admin will post updates.
5. Termination of Service
We may terminate your access to all or part of the Service at any time. We’ll usually let you know if we disable your login or delete your account.
We routinely delete inactive user accounts in the following cases:
- You've never logged in, and the account is over 5 days old,
- You've never made a public post and haven't logged in for more than 30 days,
- You haven't logged in for more than 180 days.
You can ask for an exemption from these inactivity rules by contacting the node admin.
We also remove accounts created for spam (e.g. profile spam or link spam). If that happens, we may or may not notify you.
Account deletions are permanent and will erase your content and profile.
6. Modifications
We may update these Terms of Service at any time. You can find out about changes by following the node admin.
By continuing to use the Service, you agree to the current version of the Terms.
7. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and interpreted under Irish law. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Ireland.
8. Privacy
When you create an account on our Node, you're asked to provide a display name, a username, and a valid email address.
Display name and username
These are required so you can interact with other users across the Fediverse. You may choose any available username and display name, provided they are not reserved or restricted. We recommend selecting names that suit your privacy needs, while allowing for meaningful personal interaction.
Your username and display name are always publicly visible on your profile and are shared with other nodes, so others can interact with you across the Fediverse. If you add optional profile information, this may also be transmitted to other nodes. You can control who can view these additional fields via your profile settings.
Email address
Your email address won't be shown publicly, but is visible to the node admin. It’s primarily used for notifications about user interactions, and in rare cases, the node admin may contact you directly using our official email address: info@hubup.pro. Disposable email addresses are not permitted.
Directory listing
Your profile can appear in Friendica’s global user directory if you enable this in your account settings, but listing is not required for communication.
We have disabled our Node’s local directory, which redirects to the global one.
Exporting and deleting your account data
You can export your account data from your settings for backup or to migrate to another node.
If you choose to delete your account, you may do so at …/settings/removeme. This starts the process of removing your data from our Node and sends a request to other nodes that might have received your posts or profile.
Because this is a decentralised social network, we can’t fully control what other nodes do. While deletion requests are sent, we can’t guarantee that all copies of your content will be removed.
Account deletions are permanent. Your profile and content will be erased, and your username can't be reused.
Cookies
When you access our Node through the standard web interface, your browser temporarily stores session cookies to support the login process. These cookies are deleted when you close your browser. If you tick “Remember me” at login, a persistent cookie will be stored instead. This cookie will expire after 7 days. In both cases, the cookies used are secure, encrypted, and only work over secure connections.
If you use the Phanpy web client to access our Node, your browser will store additional session cookies for that client. These cookies are not currently encrypted, but our Node is set up to only allow secure (HTTPS) connections.
Logs
Our Node records the time and date of account creation, your last login, and your most recent post. We also log the IP address, date, and time of any interaction with our Node, including access, posting, and federation requests. This information is used only for maintenance and security and is visible to the node admin.
Log data is kept only for as long as it is needed for these purposes.
